We had a lot of fun last night at the Skylark. Thanks to everyone who came out. I woke up with this morning with one of the worst hangovers in recent memory. Soon I'll be starting, or attempting, to book a tour for this summer. I've never booked a tour before so I hope it works out. Until that time, Host is working on some new material. Stay tuned.

Just want to give props to Murder Mystery for holding it down last night with those mandatory head-nodders.

January 31 @ The Skylark

We are playing a show on January 31 at the Skylark off the West Seattle bridge. It's going to be a fun show and if you haven't been to the Skylark yet, they have awesome food there. Plus it's free!

On another note, I'd like to address show posters, telephone poles and people who don't play fair. This has been a problem that has plagued us, and many others, for as long as we've been together. If there are posters on a pole for a show that hasn't happened yet, proper etiquette would suggest to find another spot to put up your poster. Lamp posts belong to everyone and should not be monopolized on by companies like Poster Giant or other poster Nazis who choose who gets their poster torn off or posted over. So if you see any assholes like that in the streets, set 'em straight.

Enough ranting, here is something really amazing I read a couple of days ago:

This is absolutely amazing and a truly visionary effort to move into the future. Something Bush and his henchmen would never attempt because, of course, global warming is not really true and oil last forever.

Some uses for your WiiMote

The nintento wii's remote control is in many ways more valuable than the console itself. With a little bit of digging, you can use the wiimote with any other bluetooth enabled computer and run your favorite games with the added bonus of motion sensing. I don't know what nintendo intended with the wii, but they're about to start a revolution. Thank you nintendo.

We're playing at the Rendezvous/Jewel Box Theater on Dec. 30 @ 10pm with Benjamin Bear. 2007 is almost over and we're one year closer to 2010. That kind of sounds like something out of an Arthur C. Clarke novel (quite literally.) So come out, talk about the things we thought we'd have by now, like teleportation or hover boards, have a drink with us and celebrate the new year early; before the world becomes colonized by aliens

End of an era....

Two days ago, the police raided the home of tv-lins.co.uk's webmaster's home and arrested him. tv-links is now shut down. For those of you who never had the luxury of using tv-links, it was a site that collected and organized a database of links to flash video streaming sites (like Google Video and YouTube) that host all kinds of tv shows, movies, cartoons, anime, documentaries, etc. Sometimes, movies were brand new when posted and the site was regularly updated. It was great. All of it free. Once again, the interest of corporate movie studios has destroyed such a valuable collection of information. Many of those tv shows were not availble in the united states and some had not been on the air for decades.

music in the digital age

Ever since Napster was happening around 10 years ago, I began noticing certain trends in the "music industry," mainly its attempts to control the distribution of digital music. something completely futile, as we can see today. finally we see some web stores like iTunes, snocap and others which allow you to buy individual tracks or a complete album in mp3 or aac format. even though these outlets are becoming more popular and "brick-and-mortar" stores are on the decline, the part of me that believes in the digital revolution and the freedom of information conflicts with the artist in me. I'd love to make some money off the music I make. however, i can't limit potential listeners from downloading and trading music freely just because i wanna make some measly 30 cents for a song. the way I see it, downloads are intangible. not only do they not come with any of the artwork that an album does, the files themselves don't really exist. i mean, what if you're computer crashes or something and your files are deleted? the music is gone. that's why I think what radiohead did with in rainbows is brilliant. they know people are going to download this album. rather than let pirates and bootleggers attach adware, viruses and trojans to the album, they just give it out themselves knowing that the true fans are going to buy the physical album once it is available for the extra material, the artwork and vinyls. i hope to see more of this in the days to come. this is a way for artists to take control of their material, cut the umbilical cord and stand on their own. mp3's sould be free.

About Radiohead's "In Rainbows"

Last night we downloaded In Rainbows, the latest album by Radiohead, which as you may know by now is being distributed exclusively online at least for now. It's definitely haunting as any Radiohead album can be but not quit as nervous and shaky. It seems calm by comparison to others, calm like when someone knows they're going to die tomorrow and are making peace with it. I'm not implying that Radiohead is dying in any way. It's a solid album and this is just the tip of the iceberg. In december there will be a physical release with all kinds of extra material so I can't wait. For those of you who haven't heard it yet, here are two tracks I selected for you to download. Enjoy!

So I made a mistake (Aldo's gonna love this,) the Olympia show at Le Voyeur is not going to be on 10/26 but instead on 10/27 which is a Sturday. I'm sorry for any confusion this may have caused but somewhere down the line I became convinced that it was going to be Friday the 26th. Oops!

Thanks to all of you that came to our last show at the High Dive in Fremont. Even though it was rushed, it was a really fun show. High Dive definitely has the best sound around. We have some new shows added, we hope to see some familiar faces there.

October 26 @ Le Voyeur in Olympia, WA with Mad Happy and guests.

October 28 @ Sunset Tavern in Seattle. This will be benefiting Cascade Peoples' Center in South Lake Union. I really hope people show up because Cascade has been providing the community with a free place to hang out, learn, plant, get biodiesel, drop your kids off, watch some music, etc etc for 10 years and now the city is cutting off it's funding so that they can tear it down and build some nice condos. yay!

Well, besides the fact that it's less maintenance for me, it means there will be more content for you now that I don't actually have to be messing around with code (as much).
